 WA&MTV RY CO - fancy cast on body of brass heart shaped switch lock with 10 links of chain.  Manufactured by Adams & Westlake Chicago with the spelled out hallmark on the shackle.  Lock works well as I put a MONON key (lot 274) in and it opened right up.  This beautiful early and scarce lock is from the Washington, Alexandria & Mt Vernon Railway Company which was an interurban line built in 1890. It ran from Washington DC through Alexandria, VA and down to Mt. Vernon until the 30's.   (My thanks to Rob Hoffer for sharing this information with me.)  It is our understanding that only 3 of these locks are known including this one so without a doubt this is a very rare and seldom offered lock that is one of the stars of this issue.   Don’t miss this chance to add a rare lock like this to your collection.
