BURLINGTON ROUTE – advertising clock manufactured by Waterbury Clock Company. Clock door shows BR box logo in black with gold highlights and reads, H.P. Sutton Co. Watch Examiners McCook, Neb. The clock itself is very ornate with beautiful wood carving around the door as well as on the top and bottom. Still has attached the original manufacturers tags on the reverse. “New 10/28/15 is written in pencil on reverse. Clock is an 8 day Crane model and appears totally original. Clock measures 39 ½” tall and 15 ½” wide. I was able to find extensive history in regard to Mr. Harvey P. Sutton who started his jewelry store in 1889 in McCook Nebraska. Sutton’s Jewelry was an official testing station for railroad watches for the Burlington Railroad. Mr. Sutton was also the conductor for Burlington Band. I will include with the clock the 5 pages of history I was able to find. Overall this appears to be in very nice condition however it is not in working order. I have wound it up but it runs for only a few minutes and then stops. Certainly worth having repaired. A great piece of Burlington Route history sure to please the lucky buyer.
