LOT 98 AT&SF BLEEDING BLUE DISH

(Item: CAT75/LOT098)

BLEEDING BLUE  - corn cob dish.  This is the 2nd of 3 of these amazing pieces I have had the pleasure of handling. Side marked and manufactured by Haviland.  Footed canoe styled dish measures 8” long and 2 5/8” wide.  This style of dish is very difficult to find as it was failed offering for the customer.  It seems the design which was suppose to be a convenience having the butter resting in the well so the corn could be turned and buttered.  However, when the customer lifted the corn to eat it the butter would drip down the front of their clothing.  So this style of dish was scrapped quite early resulting in a limited survival.  This one has a small flake chip out of the top pinstripe just near the end on the left side.  Also shows two small chips on the footed base.  Otherwise another scarce offering.  Once these are gone it will be a long time before they appear again, so don’t miss your chance.  The last one sold for over $1300.00.
